Attempting mediation before filing for a divorce can be a strategy to anticipate potential conflicts before tensions have a chance to run high. It also allows couples to work through their solutions on their own timelines. Once a case has been filed, mediation is often one of the first orders of business. It gives the parties a chance to resolve as many issues as possible for themselves before the court gets involved.
